New Rhythms

We have now been in Uganda for three weeks, man how time flys! But in some weird way, it also seems like a life time! I've found that time can be a funny thing. Almost every culture has their own view of the same clock and own way of operating with it. We have found our team rhythm with the clock here, and as a team we got settled in quite nicely. The little things that were once new are now the norm. We have had a few ups and downs throughout our time here with a few health issues, but we are all on the up hill climb now! The simple life is what we are living, that's for sure. I was struck by the significance of this kind of life, as demonstrated by the early church in the following verses. “Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.” ‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:44, 46‬ In a sense, this has been something I have been striving towards. To live in such a way, that I am in community with believers, with a heart of gladness, living simply, and loving large. I'm in no way taking this to the extremes and saying that I am selling everything, or that I can never have anything nice, but just a good reminder to not store up treasures on earth, but in heaven. This is just one of the many things God is working on in my life. In other news, we have gained another translator on our team... Me! I found that I have an unused skill of translating from British English to American English, as our security guard can not understand British English at all. To the point where he won't even pretend to understand, but will look to me for a transition (which often is the same exact words). This has made for many laughs by all over miscommunications! Deepening friendships and building new ones over games, fun stories, making food (which takes a lot of time), and through learning new cultures has added to a very rewarding time. And to think, this is only the start! For more from the ministry side check out the team blog, http://ct.allnationsfamily.org/forge-2017-team-2/
